Spot Details

Launch by scuba beach on east side of dam. Do not go into bouyed scuba area.Entry fee and water access permit is $17. Your gear must be inspected by rangers for zebra mussels.

The launch is not for begginers you must be able to stay upwind.

2015 Update: Kite boards must be inspected once a year. After the 1st inspection for the year, you can proceed immediately to the kite launch area.

Stay out of Scuba area regardless of whether there is anyone there or not. Failing to do so will get you fined, banned, or both.

The Aurora Reservoir wind meter tends to read high. Windalert forecasts of 13mph G20 will routinely result in actual winds of less than 4mph. Would recommend subtracting at least 8mph from the wind reading for any measured winds less than 14mph.

As stated earlier, this is not a beginner site. Winds tend to be gusty and the location of the restricted scuba area right next to the launch zone can make it difficult to initially get up wind.
